On the top right corner of Google Plus profile, you can notice a notifications button. This will continuly monitor your Google Plus activity and alert users whenever someone comments in a post you commented earlier or someone replies to your status update. You can see a brief preview of your friends who are participating in a discussion within your circle. The good thing in Google Plus is anyone who wants to tag you in a photo will have to obtain your prior permission.
On the bottom of right pane you can find chat widget, where you can click the name of a person and you can send him an instant message. There is a option called “Email’ placed right below the profile photo of your Google Plus friend, with that option, you can send a private message directly to his email inbox. For all Google Plus activity, users will receive an email notifications to the email address which is used to sign up for Google Plus. you can customize the individual notifications.
If you want to follow a famous people on Google Plus(like on twitter), simply search for his name on the search box and add him to a circle you have created. You can name the circle as you want, this circle is visible only to you.
